Skew Gallery would like to welcome Artist Alexander Caldwell to the gallery. A long standing sculptor in the Calgary community. Skew is excited to introduce his work to an international audience at the upcoming Aqua Wynwood, Art Fair in Miami this December 2 to 7, 2008. Check out Bad at Sports badatsports.com Congratulations to Diana Thorneycroft for her upcoming group exhibition "Hinterlands" at the MacIntosh Gallery at the University of Western Ontario. The exhibition will consist of works by artists Fastwurms, Sky Glabush, Colette Urban and Diana Thorneycroft, and is curated by Patrick Mahon. The exhibition runs from September 18 - November 2, 2008. Congratulations to Margaux Williamson who premiere's her new work "Teenager Hamlet 2006" an installation and video project at the Toronto International Film Festival Sept. 5 - 13, 2008. This work is presented by Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art, and is curated by Steve Gravestock. Congratulations to Amalie Atkins, recipient of PAVED Arts Members' Production Fund Award. Her new film/ photo based project entitled "Scenes from a secret world" will exhibit at Paved Arts and AKA Gallery from Sept. 12 - Oct. 11, 2008. Congratulations to Amalie Atkins on her upcoming group exhibition "Flatlanders: Saskatchewan Artists on the Horizon" which runs from Sept. 19 - January 4 at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon. This exhibition will screen Atkins film "Three Minute Miracle" . This film will also run during the opening night of "Antimatter Underground Film Fest" in Victoria, BC. The film will play Sept. 19 at 7pm at Deluge Contemporary Art Gallery Skew Gallery is open September 4th for the opening reception of collaborative artists' Dave and Jenn's exhibition "In Which They Find Themselves Between Here and There". Congratulations to Dave and Jenn for their upcoming group exhibition "Future's So Bright", Truck Gallery's 25th Anniversary. The Opening Reception will be held Friday, September 5th from 5 to 8pm. The exhibition runs from September 6 to October 4, 2008. Congratulations to Dave and Jenn for their inclusion in the exhibition "Thick & Thin" at the Glenbow Museum, curated by Wil Murray. This group exhibition brings together the works of 8 artists to discuss through their mutual connections with Calgary, its extrodinary complexity of excesses and voids, of abundance, and the lack there of. Shared imagination, and artistic innnovation come together in "Thick and Thin" to form a contemporary reflection of these emerging artists. This exhibition is on display at the Glenbow Museum July 25 - September 28th. This exhibit is co-produced by Illigworth Kerr Gallery, Glenbow Museum, and Sled Island Music Festival. Congratulations to Amalie Atkins on her recent acceptance for screening of "Three Minute Miracle" at WNDX, the Winnipeg Festival of Film and Video Art. This festival is renowned for its attention to innovative video and film work created by prairie filmmakers, as a means of expression in context with the the national and international landscape. The Festival takes place Thursday, October 9 - Sunday, October 12, 2008. This Festival takes place August 21-24, 2008. This event will mark Atkins first international screening. Congratulations to Matt Crookshank on his acceptance to the thematic residency: "Cosmic Ray Research" at the Banff Centre for the Arts. The residency program will take place September 15 - October 31, 2008. Congratulations to Terrance Houle for his video/musical collaboration Don Coyote, with musician Matt Masters performed at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary, AB. This performance will be held at the Glenbow Conocophillips Theatre, in co-production with the Illingworth Kerr Gallery, the Glenbow Museum, and Sled Island Music Festival in July 2008. Congratulations to Barry Underwood who was awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award.
